Mercedes has discovered the cause of problems with radio communications during the Hungarian Grand Prix, when the team had not heard of Lewis Hamilton.
“It was a hardware issue – a small gap fiber optic cable, said team boss Toto Wolff. – No radio, no data – even for television, nothing. In the end, we were able to fix everything, but it still hurt.
Lewis heard is not all, even our phrase. It was hard, but the team did great. Staff in Brackley and Brixworth told us a huge amount of important data concerning the radio.
James [Folsom, strategist Mercedes] sometimes simultaneously communicated six or seven people. Incredible team work.
If Lewis told us on a couple of laps before that could go much faster, we would immediately apply team strategy”.
