Pilot Mercedes Lewis Hamilton was unhappy with fourth place in the Grand Prix of Austria.
In qualifying, the Briton finished third but lost five places on the starting grid because of a gearbox replacement on it W08.
During the race Lewis was able to play four positions. In addition, he was close to overtaking Daniel ricciardo, but the Australian survived a duel with three-time world champion.
“The result is mediocre, but I tried hard, said Hamilton’s comments to Sky Sports. – It’s all in the strategy. I went in for a pit stop before, and originally planned to drive another ten laps.
It was a difficult race. In addition, this route is difficult to overtake. I only had one chance to overtake Daniel, but I have not been able to use it. On the other hand, the risk must be justified.
Congratulations to Valtteri. He did a solid job throughout the weekend and deserved this victory.”
After the race at Spielberg, Sebastian Vettel was able to increase the advantage over Hamilton in the overall standings to 20 points.
“I’m not thinking about it. 20 points – serious lag, but there is still a lot of races, – said Lewis. I have a few days of rest, after which I will meet with the British fans. Hope we’ll get to the week-end at Silverstone without any problems and start with a clean slate.”
