Renault racer Jolyon Palmer has admitted that there is nothing worse than at the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, just can’t happen this season.
In the first practice session the Briton crashed the car, after which he was forced to miss the second session. In the third workout he drove only a few laps, and then because of a fuel leak he fired up the car, and he couldn’t even participate in qualifying.
He started the race 20-m, but after seven laps, was forced to withdraw due to engine misfires.
“I can’t do anything about it – admitted Jolyon. – Certainly, at me is a lot of pressure because of the poor start to the season.
There is nothing worse than to miss the training, qualification, and almost nothing to drive in the race.
This year I have repeatedly said that the black strip will end – I’m sure of it. I hope in Austria earn points thanks to a good result.”
Palmer added that he needs to figure out how to make the most of the new cars in F1, also admitted that his teammate Nico Hulkenberg is on a completely different level.
“Since last year the cars have changed a lot, as a management style, Palmer said. – Kevin [Magnussen in 2016] also did a great job early in the season, but in the end I was faster.
Nico is currently very stable, does not make mistakes and, I hope, achieves maximum from the car. I would say that he is now on another level, so I need details to work on ourselves because this is the level at which I need to achieve.
I do everything to be stable and fast. As well as trying to better understand this car, as my driving style does not work properly on the new technique.”
