Former F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone will become the Central figure in the traditional Festival of Speed in Goodwood.
Every year this Festival is usually held in honor of a brand, but in 2017 it will be held in honor of the man.
From June 30 to July 2, Bernie will be present at the Festival along with many world Champions, team owners, engineers, designers and technicians that played an important role in his career.
The organizers will prepare an installation in which the cars will cover five periods of the life of Ecclestone as the rider, the Manager, the team owner, impresario, and finally, legends of Motorsport.
The Festival founder Lord March said: “It’s not so much a tribute, but a celebration in honor of the racer, which is a strong influence on our favorite sport.
It’s great that Bernie has agreed to spend the weekend at the Festival, which will visit many famous people who worked with him throughout his career.
I’m also really glad he put up some cars from his incredible collection.”
Ecclestone began his journey in Motorsport in the late 1940s, speaking behind the wheel of a 500 CC Cooper, and culminated in participation in the Monaco Grand Prix driving a Connaught.
He then switched to management and became the lead career of Stuart Lewis-Evans and then Jochen rindt. Bernie took seriously the doom of the wards and only in the end of 1971 decided to become a team leader, Brabham buying.
In 1974, at the request of the other owners of the teams he took control of the Association of designers F1. It is with him that Formula 1 became the most popular sport in the world.
