Former Formula 1 driver and current Sky Sports F1 expert Martin Brundle does not exclude that rookie Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas, at the Grand Prix of Russia won the first victory in career, to engage in the battle for the title.
“Whether Bottas to become the world champion in 2017? While it is impossible to say, – Brundle wrote in his column on the Sky Sports F1 website. – Real Champions stable during the whole season, in every race my best. Let’s see how good Valtteri in this regard. But I’m not against such a development”.
Brandl also said that now the Mercedes team may be faced with a difficult dilemma.
“At Mercedes there was a problem, continued Martin. – Ferrari, in terms of rate and points is the leader, while Lewis Hamilton after the finish line in fourth place just ahead by ten points of his new teammate, and in the Cup of designers “Silver arrows” ahead of the Scuderia just one point”.
As Valtteri Bottas proved that he is no second number
Like many, Brandl hopes that in the near future in the struggle for victory also will join the Red Bull Racing team.
“It’s nice to see a tight fight between Ferrari and Mercedes, and in the middle of the peloton planned a very interesting battle. But it is very important that Red Bull Racing has chosen neutral territory and joined the fight for position on the podium,” added the ex-pilot of Formula 1.
