Sports consultant to Red Bull Helmut Marko has urged to reconsider regulations on engines and suggested the direction in which the Formula 1 should move on.
“The idea is very simple: we need an engine capacity of 1000 HP with a standard KERS system and the battery so that the development cost does not exceed 15-20 million, – quotes Marco El Models. Also the engine has a loud sound and allow riders to show their talents. Independent suppliers like Ilmor and Cosworth, must have the opportunity to participate, if you want we or McLaren could use their services”.
Marco confirmed that in case of default of these conditions the Red Bull could leave Formula 1.
“Yes, as Mercedes and Ferrari refused to give us their engines [in late 2015], and Renault only did it under pressure from Bernie Ecclestone, said the Austrian. – We want to be a level playing field in which manufacturers will not have to blackmail.”
