Two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso does not agree with the decision of the new owner of the commercial rights of F1 Corporation Liberty Media in the future to expand the championship to 25 races.
F1 Chairman chase Carey spoke several times about the so-called “destination cities” – Miami, Las Vegas and new York.
“I need to understand their plans, admitted Alonso. – I already read that they intend to expand the calendar to 25 races. When I started, there were 16, now 20.
If I expanded to 25, I’ll go.”
About their plans to participate in F1 in 2018, Alonso still evasive answers, but one thing is clear: the Spaniard intends to stay in F1.
“It would be wrong to say that I have a specific plan – quoted Alonso in Planeta Calleja. – I can be in any team, be it Mercedes or Renault – suddenly the past starts to dominate.
If in June or July I will start to receive calls, we need at least detailed discussion. Perhaps only in the Red Bull Racing closed doors – they already have young riders with long term contracts.”
