The Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel was fastest on the third and final training of the Grand Prix of Australia, the initial stage of season 2017.
In the second half of the session, the German ran a tire Ultrasoft with a score of 1.23,380, setting a new absolute lap record at albert Park.
The second line of the Protocol took rookie Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas, while Lewis Hamilton dominated the Friday practice, was only third, losing partner 0,011 seconds, and Vettel – 0,490 seconds.
The second Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen for some time was in the lead, however, unlike his teammate, much to improve in the second half of the session could not.
Top 5 unexpectedly closed pilot Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg, but the representatives of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel ricciardo and Max Verstappen settled in sixth and 12th places.
Racers Toro Rosso and Haas divided the remaining four places in the top ten, Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were the seventh and the tenth, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat in eighth and ninth respectively.
The session was completed ahead of schedule – approximately ten minutes before the end of the tenth turn, the car broke rookie lance Stroll. So many pilots was not able to hold a qualification sighting.
