The founder and former head of the Sauber Peter Zauber has shared his opinion about the prospects of his team in the season 2017.
The championship last year, the stable of Hinwil finished in tenth place in the constructors ‘ championship, almost at the last moment ahead of Manor. But in the offseason Manor ceased to exist, so Sauber is in danger of becoming the main outsider in 2017.
“In Formula 1 there are no miracles. During the critical period of development 2017, from may to September, the team lacked the resources – said Zauber in an interview with Blick. – I hope that in the course of the season will be able to make progress and to catch up with rivals. Now Sauber is the tenth and last team at the pit lane. This is the starting position.
I don’t know what ideas are there for engineers in Hinwil. But I hope I will be able to beat one or two teams”.
With regard to the visits of the Grand Prix in the upcoming season, Sauber has no such plans.
“Last season I also have never been on the track. The situation was extremely tense, so it was better to stay home,” he said.
