Commenting on the results of Friday’s training Grand Prix of Australia, Max Verstappen said that the car Red Bull Racing is not enough speed.
In the morning session, the 19-year-old Dutchman showed the fourth time, but after dinner became only the sixth and drove only eight laps, since the departure in the gravel at 12-m turn damaged the car.
“There is understeer, I flew off the track and damaged the bottom – quoted by Verstappen GPUpdate.net. We’re trying to find the right balance. Now we are too slow and need to improve.
I think we are about where you expected to be. Try to do everything”.
Partner Verstappen at the team Daniel Riccardo completed the first day of racing weekend in fifth position, behind the leader Lewis Hamilton second.
“We can do better,’ said the Australian. The first exercise turned out to be promising. In the second session we tried a few solutions, but they’re not as as we want.
Mercedes is definitely fast, but now it is much more about Lewis than Valtteri [Bottas showed the third time], who, it seems, is in our group. I think we can make them fight. Of course, to win the pole will be hard, but we are in the chasing group. So it’s okay.”
