On the eve of the Grand Prix of Australia-2017 and in honor of the recent 50th anniversary of the third world title Jack Brebemi Royal Australian mint decided to honor the contribution of their legendary compatriot, the issuance of special commemorative coins in denomination of 50 cents.
Brabham is the only one in the history of Formula 1 pilot who won the world championship driving for his own team. “Black Jack” won this historic victory for car Brabham BT19 in 1966.
“Sir Jack Brabham was not only an excellent driver but also an engineer, an innovator and a pioneer of the sport, – said General Director of the Royal Australian mint Ross Macdiarmid. – This coin is to give respect to one of the great representatives of car racing, a recognition of his success on the race track and beyond”.
David Brabham, the youngest son Jack, added: “In our time, when modern technology replaces hands-on experience, the success of my father, most likely, no one will repeat. This coin allows you to share the inheritance Brebemi and recognize what can be achieved when business put their heart, soul and mind as Jack, who became a pioneer of his time.”
In total, there were issued 30,000 coins with the image of Jack Brebemi.
