The former head of the Renault team Frederick Wasser said about why at the end of last season was invited Nico Hulkenberg in the composition for 2017.
“I was familiar with it also in the Formula 3 and GP2. He spent a few seasons in my team, – said Vasser in an interview with SpeedWeek. – Niko is able to work tirelessly from morning till night and be a real leader. This is a very important quality. So I invited him in. We are well aware of and always kept in touch”.
In January Vasser because of the differences in the leadership left the team, however, recognizes that in the future would like to return to the paddock of the “Royal races”.
“Of course I want to re-experience this experience. It was an interesting time. I’m happy to be back in the paddock and I hope I will be happy, he said. Now, after 27 seasons in Motorsport, my life has changed dramatically. My kids are 9, 15, 18 and 21. For the first time in many years I will see them regularly”.
To the question about the plans currently Vasser said, “I Have no plans. I’m on vacation!”
Also, the ex-head of Renault shared their impressions of the changes in regulations in Formula 1.
“I think in two races can all forget what F1 was before, he continued. – It’s not that cars are a few seconds faster. Fans want to see wrestling and dense results. So it will depend on how changed the balance of power.
Of course, after the tests are always difficult to draw conclusions. But I do not need to be a seer to say that Ferrari is in good shape, but Honda will have to resolve serious technical problems”.
