After the 13th place in the qualification of the pilot of McLaren Fernando Alonso has said that he does not expect miracles from tomorrow’s Australian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton won the pole position in Melbourne
“After the difficulties we encountered at the winter tests, we didn’t know what to expect from ourselves in Melbourne,’ said Alonso. But we managed to pass all sessions without major problems, beating their own expectations.
I was able to enjoy their fastest laps in the first and second segments. I’m happy with the balance of the car, as they could go in full force. This is important because now we need to make the most of what we have.
In the race we will start from 13th place. Of course, this result is not up to the standard. It will be difficult to get to the finish line. And even if we do, to achieve the normal result, we need the help of weather and the occurrence of problems in other cars.”
Stoffel Vandorn showed the 18th time in qualifying, said: “In the first segment of the machine there is a problem with the fuel pressure, which I was not able to run two fast lap – engine power dropped.
Sorry that it happened, because after the third exercise for us all went well and I was confident in the car. It’s hard to give it your all when you have only one fast lap, because you can’t risk.
But the team has made progress in the course of the weekend: Fernando feel comfortable in the car. I think tomorrow we can drive a good race”.
