The pilot of McLaren Fernando Alonso refused to comment on rumors of a possible transition of the team from Woking for Mercedes power units from next year.
At the recent Barcelona tests the reliability and power of the Honda engines do not stand up to scrutiny. After that, a number of British publications said about a potential change of a supplier of engines for McLaren and the resumption of its cooperation with Mercedes, if the Japanese can not bring their vehicles in proper form in the near future.
During a press conference in Melbourne, held on Thursday, Fernando evasively answered uncomfortable questions concerning the breakup with Honda.
“The question, rather, should be addressed to the team, said the double world champion. And I heard about these rumors, but do not intend to comment on them in the press.
What can I do, is to show your level, nothing more, and to answer such questions – a prerogative of the team.”
But reporters were not appeased. And on the question of convince change of supplier of the motor to remain in the team for next season, the Spaniard replied: “I don’t know.”
