The pilot of McLaren Fernando Alonso has made it clear to reporters that he was not interested in the alignment of forces in the peloton, while he will fight for the lowest places.
“I really don’t care about the balance of power. I don’t care who competes in the middle of the peloton. We want to be Champions, to win and to be on the catwalks, but now we are far from that, – said the Spaniard. – If we are on the 13th, the 17th or ninth place and ahead of us Renault and Force India, I don’t care.”
Then Alonso commented on the results of the first day of racing weekend in Australia, in which he was 12th.

“Today there are some problems, but if you remember the failed pre-season tests, then on Friday in Melbourne we had less trouble than in Barcelona, and we were able to drive a little more mileage in both training – continued Fernando. Thanks to this we were able to squeeze some potential out of the car, because now we essentially are testing new parts.
This is a positive aspect, but we still need to work very hard in order to improve the lap time”.
His young teammate Stoffel Vandorn ended Friday with the 17th time.
“It is difficult to imagine on what ground we qualify tomorrow: now I don’t look at times because it’s more important to feel the car,’ said the Belgian. – I continue to pick up speed with each turn, feeling the car better.
I am pleased that we have changed the settings and now moving in the right direction. I have made serious progress in comparison with the first exercise. I hope that tomorrow I will also be able to add”.
