Journalist and Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft suggested that the power plant Honda regularly goes down due to excessive vibrations.
During the final two days of pre-season testing in Barcelona on MCL32 had problems with the electrics on the power unit Honda, causing the car, at the wheel which sat Stoffel Vandorn and Fernando Alonso, lost power.
McLaren-Honda again has problems with the electrics
“What is the cause of engine problems? As I understand it, it is really excessive vibrations, said Croft. – Powerplant feels so huge vibration that it affects even the electrician, as the unit jumps in all directions”.
Honda does not comment on what triggered the loss of power.
“Despite the fact that on Thursday we have replaced some electrical parts of the power plant, on Friday electrical problems continued. Very sorry for what happened, – said the head of Motorsport division, Honda Yusuke Hasegawa. – A large number of yesterday’s laps were spent trying to identify the cause of the power loss”.
