The pilot Toro Rosso Daniel Quat were satisfied with ninth place at the end of qualifying in Melbourne and praised the team for their excellent work during the whole weekend.
Lewis Hamilton won the pole position in Melbourne
“It’s great to reach the third segment of two machines. We can be satisfied with his Saturday performance – said Kvyat. – We missed a bit of the test time in Barcelona, so here I try to improve every day.
We managed to improve the car in comparison with Friday and get a good lap in qualifying in the conditions of fierce competition.
In the first segment, the situation was difficult for all, without exception, because the conditions on the track were unpredictable. For this reason, we needed to collect maximum information and to adapt quickly to these conditions.
Throughout the weekend the team works accurately, so I would like to congratulate everyone on a job well done. This result gives confidence in their abilities.
Now we look forward to the start of the Grand Prix, which will try to convert today’s rate in a positive result in the race.”
Carlos Sainz, who finished eighth, said: “Good but not perfect day. We started the qualification not with the same balance that we had yesterday the car lacked stability, and I have not been so sure, on Friday.
With the Monza, we started to gradually add. It was quite difficult to get into the third segment, as competition in the peloton is huge. In the end we managed to gather a good circle, and I’m definitely satisfied with the end result.
Both of our cars were in the top ten, which is a great achievement for the team as a whole. I think it will be a fascinating race.”
