Representatives of the tyre company Bridgestone announced that it was not going to return to Formula 1 and instead will focus on the sponsorship of the Olympic games.
Bridgestone’s managing Director Robin Shaw in an interview with City a.m. said: “In the near future we will not be returning to Formula 1. We have invested all our time and resources into the Olympic games”.
About sponsorship summer and winter Olympic games until 2024, it was announced in early March.
“It is impossible to imagine that our pursuit of high quality will somehow be related to the desire of the Formula 1 to use rubber, which could explode,” said Shaw.
The Japanese manufacturer has actively worked with F1 from 1970 to 2010. Now Bridgestone supplies tyres for the Japanese Superformula.
“I’m a fan of Formula 1 and watch with interest all the races, but I’m very glad that we supported the Olympic games, not Formula 1,” added Shaw.
