Former Executive Director of Formula 1 Bernie Ecclestone has admitted he regrets the transition of Jochen rindt in team Lotus held in his patronage.
Bernie was a close friend and Manager of the Austrian racer. He advised him to switch from Brabham to Lotus in 1969. Austrian became world champion in 1970, but received this title posthumously. A few steps to the end of the season, Rindt died in the accident at Monza.
“I contributed to the transition underway at Lotus, although he had the option to extend the contract with Brabham, – quoted Motorsport-Total. – There is a strange feeling when you think: “If he hadn’t joined this team, not sat behind the wheel of this car, he would still be alive.
For me, the death of Rindt was a shock, because we were very close with him.”
