Rookie Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas is looking forward to the new season of 2017, where he will likely have the opportunity to fight for the highest places in the team championship team.
When a reporter asked Finn how much time it will take to winning his first career pole position, Valtteri said, “I’m ready to take pole position today!
I hope that the car will be fast, and I can do it as soon as possible”.
Its predecessor and current world champion Nico Rosberg took two years to get his first win and his first pole position in the Mercedes lineup.
“Theoretically now the team should be in better shape than when she moved Niko. Since that time Mercedes has made much progress – continued Bottas. We hope that this year the car will be very fast. As for me, for four seasons in the Williams I fought for podiums, so I’m definitely willing to fight for pole position and victory”.
Finn also admitted that he would like to start working with the team before, but Mercedes was able to submit it only in mid-January 2017, after Rosberg suddenly decided about retirement in December 2016.
“I started working with a new team in mid-January – it is obvious that it can not be called advantage, – said Bottas. – Yes, the decision was made quite late. But now I feel ready for the challenge.
Of course, if I started to work with the team before, it would help. But the past cannot be changed. It should be accepted”.
