The owner of the Silverstone Car club of great Britain (BRDC) had decided to withdraw from the sale of the famous circuit.
The last few months the BRDC are constantly negotiating with potential buyers, among which was Jaguar Land Rover group and the firm of Jonathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision.
Because of the protracted turmoil BRDC had to assure fans that he will not exercise the option to terminate the contract on carrying out of Grand Prix. After the American Corporation, Liberty Media acquired the commercial rights of F1, the leadership of the BRDC decided to try to cope with carrying out of stages of F1 at Silverstone.
BRDC Chairman John Grant addressed the members of the club a statement: “After the New year we were hoping to resume negotiations with our important foreign investor, whom we will call. However, after careful analysis of the situation, as well as the sale of the commercial rights of Formula 1 of Liberty Media Corporation, our Board of Directors has decided to postpone talks and continue to maintain control.
In a sense, we run the risk, however, such a step, we think, will improve the prospects for our business.”
Grant also added that the basis of decision is some recent background changes that included the elimination of the post of Secretary of the club and the emergence of voluntary Ambassador BRDC.
