CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Ferrari Sergio Marchione does not exclude the possibility of entering the Italian manufacturer in a series of Formula E in the future, but not anytime soon.
The series, which debuted in 2014, slowly but surely attracts new producers: it is expected that in the next season in FE will include Audi and BMW, and from 2018 the new competitor will be the Mercedes.
At the same time Ferrari does not see any necessity of joining in the FE.
“If we talk about FE, I think, technologies of the championship has not reached the level they were expected of me – said at a press conference Sergio. – I mean that the pilots during the race we have to change from one machine to another because of lack of battery.
I think we need to find a better way of attracting interest in electric vehicles and FE. I can say that we continue to follow this championship.
Moreover, we do not abandon the idea one day to join the series, but this will only happen when Ferrari will have the opportunity to prove themselves. If we are not able to show themselves in the best light, so there is no need to participate in the championship”.
