The ex-pilot of Renault and Sauber-BMW Robert Kubica said that he would like to sit behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.
Six years ago, the pole suffered serious injuries in rally competitions, which he was forced to finish his career in F1.
In 2016, Robert resumed his racing career, and in 2017 he will return to full performances and will be ByKolles LMP1 in the WEC.
In recent years, Kubica worked several times on the simulators and he even offered to take part in the tests of F1, however at that moment he felt that he was not ready for such a test, and rejected the proposal.
“At the time I didn’t have confidence that everything will go well, – quotes Kubica AUTOSPORT.com. – I know that some people chances only once in your life, but I always want to be confident and know what I can do.
If I’m not sure, I always say to myself, “Forget it.”
My physical condition is not an ordinary case. Few people through that. Each reacts to the situation differently”.
When Robert asked if he would now offer to test the F1 car, he replied: “Yes. Today I would like to try a Formula 1 car.
I haven’t sat in the cockpit of this car, so I had to show them what I’m capable of. I think I could have done that. I want to re-experience the awe that is present within you during your stay in the F1 car.
Many times I have worked on the simulator. I’m sure I would be able to compete at 80% of the tracks of the Formula 1, but not all.
But it should be noted that the tests of the F1 car is very different from what happens during the race weekend.
In his last three seasons in the Royal races, I managed to reach a high level of performance. Now I’ve lost a bit”.
