Renault racer Nico Hulkenberg admitted that he will miss the daily marathon in Le Mans this year to focus on the performance for the French team in F1.
The German won the famous race at the first attempt in 2015, as part of Porsche in the crew of nick Tandy and Earl Bamber. Last season due to crossing the date stage WEC and the Grand Prix of Europe in Baku Nico had to miss the race. In 2017, the organizers corrected the error by designating stages at different times, but Nico decided not to return to the ring Sorta, at least this season.
Hulkenberg said his decision is not related to the January accident by Pascal Wehrlein in Race of Champions, where he will be forced to miss the first preseason tests.
“My decision has nothing to do with the incident with Pascal, just this year I have no strong desire to participate in this race, – quotes Hulkenberg AUTOSPORT.com. – When you play for the factory team, you have to be one hundred percent devoted to her, and I found it easier to decide on such a move with Force India, which was not the manufacturer.
I am pleased with how things are going. I’m happy that I competed at Le Mans and won there. Perhaps in the future I will return there.”
