According to Jolyon Palmer, Renault has managed to make a significant step forward compared to last year.
A late deal with Lotus for all of 2016, the French team only three times was able to score points, which guaranteed them only ninth place in the championship.
Fairly quickly the team realized that they need as early as possible to switch to preparation for the season 2017, that, according to the statement of Jolyon Palmer came to fruition, despite the departure of Frederic Vasseur as Director of the team.
“It’s a pity that Fred left the team, but we still have Cyril [Abitbul] and Jerome Stoll, who know how to manage the team, – said Palmer in an interview with Sky Sports. — The team is in good hands, and perhaps now things will become easier.
We have a feeling that this year we will be able to achieve good results. Last year the problems Lotus tied our hands, while by 2017 everything was done under proper guidance of Renault.
Our team has excellent specialists with whom Renault had won races and Championships, so all excited and want to see if we can repeat the success.”
Palmer confessed that because of the problems of Renault in last year’s season seemed to him harder than he expected, but in 2017 he hopes for a positive trend.
“I stand in the factory team — continued Palmer, and I am sure that the results will come, although last year failed to achieve anything really.
I look forward to the beginning of season 2017, because our situation is now much better.”
