The Mercedes team officially announced the signing of a contract with James Ellison. Thus, on March 1, the 48-year-old Briton will take the post of technical Director, replacing paddy Lowe.
Allison will be responsible for technical organization and report directly to Toto Wolff, said in a statement.
At the end of July last year, Allison left Ferrari, where he worked on the last few seasons. The rumors about his transition to the “Silver arrows” first appeared in November.
“I’m excited for the return to work after a break, – quotes Ellison, the press service of Mercedes. For me a great privilege to receive such high confidence from the team that has achieved success in the past three years. I hope to help Mercedes become even stronger in the coming seasons.”
Head of Mercedes Motorsport Toto Wolff added: “I am delighted to welcome James to Mercedes and looking forward to start working with him. It was not easy to find the right specialist that can strengthen our experienced team of engineers and to give talented young team space for development, and to deliver his vision.
James is a great engineer and I think we found the perfect person for the role of leader of the technical group”.
