The Williams team has appointed Dirk de beer head of the Department of aerodynamics.
De beer, who retired from a similar position to Ferrari last summer, will start work on March 1.
After the departure of Jason Somerville from Williams at the end of last year, the head of the Department of aerodynamics temporarily became Dave Wheater.
“We are pleased that we will be able to work with such an experienced specialist like Dirk, — said the Deputy head Williams Claire Williams. His knowledge and technical expertise after several years of experience in the same position in F1 will surely be an important asset for our team, seeking to return to leadership positions on the starting grid”.
De Beers had not long to work in the Department of aerodynamics at Sauber, and then moved to Renault in 2008. After spending five years in Enstone, he decided to try his hand at Ferrari.
“I am anxious to start working with Dave Whiteroom and other employees of the Department of aerodynamics Williams, to continuously develop the car as this season, and the next,” said de beer.
After poor results 2016 Williams reorganized technical Department: in the place of Pat Symonds, who headed the technical division of the team came from paddy Lowe of Mercedes. Also planned to expand the duties of the chief engineer team Rob Smedley.
