Pilots of the program of development of the Russian SMP Racing Motorsport Egor Orudzhev and Matevos Isaakyan won the prototype Dallara in the fourth stage of the European series of Le Mans in the French Le Castellet.
He started a four-hour marathon Matevos Isaakyan. Starting fourth, the pilot of SMP Racing has lost it position on the first lap, then managed not only to regain his place in the peloton, but also continued to increase the tempo.
After some time, the Matevos already took the lead, ahead of including pilots of the team DragonSpeed, starting from pole position, and the G-Drive Racing cars. Fixed on the first position in the absolute, Matevos was driving in a fairly steady rhythm, paying attention to tire wear, thereby creating an impressive lead over the rivals and to preserve the rubber.
During his shift Egor Orudzhev due to low degradation of the tyres has successfully maintained a high pace. The pilot increased the gap to almost a minute and a half, when the wheel returned Isaakyan, to finish the race.
“I started the race from fourth position, but started not very successfully, — said after the race, Matevos Isaakyan. — Lost one position on the first lap, but quickly enough you could return it and then decided to protect the rubber, but at the same time to maintain sufficient pace that really helped on the second leg”.
“My goal was to maintain the pace specified by Matevos and hold the advantage that we have, — commented on the progress of the race by Egor Orudzhev. — I also tried to protect the rubber, and in addition, we have decided to slightly change tactics, bringing my cut driving to Matevos was later able without stops to reach the finish line. In the end, we did make one pit stop less than all, which helped to achieve a good result.”
For young pilots SMP Racing “4 hours of Le Castellet” became only the second race in a series of ELMS.
