The drivers of the youth program SMP Racing Egor Orudzhev and Matevos Isaakyan finished in fifth position in his debut endurance race “4 hours of Red bull Ring” of the European series of Le Mans in Austria.
In a four-hour marathon on the track in Spielberg, the Russians started on the prototype Dallara from the fifth position. For more than a hundred and fifty laps, the crew at number 27, managed to lead the peloton, and then for quite a long time in the middle of the race was steadily on the third line. Then the riders lost a few positions, but some of them managed to play.
“This is definitely a good race for us — commented the results of the phase Egor Orudzhev. — We showed great pace. Yes, there was a technical hitch at the pit stop, if it went more successfully, we could fight for the podium and even for victory. But it was a great experience and I think we coped well with the tasks.
We all need to remember those things, which in a short race is simply not thinking. There you go, in fact, in qualifying pace from start to finish. In endurance have to think about the degradation of rubber fuel consumption of about how to preserve the car.”
“I really liked this experience, I participated in endurance racing and that we can impose struggle leaders, despite the fact that they are more experienced, highly motivating, noted the Matevos Isaakyan. Yes, it’s a totally different strategy, and you should always think about the partner, and on slower machines the other classes that needs to pass from one side fast, the other is safe.
We have done a great job this weekend. In the race I even was in the lead and the speed was, and this is most important.”
“This stage was really very important and necessary from the point of view of the development of young drivers, to enhance the overall level and skills, — said sports Director of the youth program SMP Racing Peter Aleshin. Is a great experience and I am very glad our young guys got it and hopefully will continue to in the next races”.
Orudzhev and Isaakyan will participate in the next stage of the European series of Le Mans which will take place at the French circuit Paul Ricard on 26-27 August.
