Russian team G-Drive Racing, playing in the endurance races with the support of premium fuel G-Drive “Gazprom Neft”, took second place in the third stage of the European series of Le Mans (ELMS) in the Austrian Spielberg, and continues to lead the overall standings of the championship.
On the Red bull Ring in the crew of G-Drive Racing has been a change. Instead of Japanese Rio Hirakawa company Frenchman Leo Roussel and Mexican memo Rojas, made up of experienced French driver Nicolas Minassian.
In qualifying the team won the pole position and start the four-hour marathon ahead of all rivals. After the first pit stop, where Russelia behind the wheel of the ORECA prototype was replaced by Rojas, the crew of G-Drive Racing continued to struggle in third place. Before the final part of the race behind the wheel returned Roussel. The young Frenchman held the lead until the last scheduled pit stop, after which he moved into second place. On the final laps Roussel chased the opponent, but closer to the distance of the attack did not – in the end, the crew of G-Drive Racing finished just four seconds behind the winners.
Second place in Spielberg allowed the Russian team to hold the lead in the overall standings at the equator of the championship. Now, the participants have ELMS three stages, the nearest of which will be held in the last weekend of summer in the French Le Castellet.
