Six weeks before the start of the DTM season Mercedes announced a pair of pilots on the season-2017.
The Stuttgart manufacturer in anticipation of the entry into force of the new regulations had thorough training in Portimao and Vallelunga. The final official tests take place next week in Hockenheim.
Despite the fact that all six cars were from the same team HWA drivers were divided in pairs.
Gary Paffett and Robert Wickens will perform for the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Mercedes Me, Maro Engel and Paul di Resta for Mercedes-AMG, Motorsport, SILBERPFEIL Energy, and Vice-champion last year, Edoardo Mortara will join with Lucas Auer in the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport BWT.
Head of Mercedes AMG Motorsport, DTM-Ulrich Fritz said: “Although we work as a team, relationships with a partner are usually strained. Fortunately, we have well trained team, and three teams we expect to compete for the title in the upcoming season.”
