From 21 to 23 February at the Algarve motor Park in Portugal we have the first pre-season tests DTM.
Participation of all three manufacturers who have tested new versions of its cars RS5, C63 and M4, adapted to the new technical regulations, which comes into effect this year. Also teams and drivers have tested the new Hankook tires, designed with the ban on the use of the product.
“We went to a lot of useful laps and spent a lot of sets of rubber, because the new tires are much softer and wear out pretty quickly – said the Audi driver Mattias ekström, who worked on Tuesday. – I’m looking forward to Hockenheim, when the track will be released all 18 cars. The pavement will very quickly be covered with a layer of waste rubber!”
On Wednesday driving the car of Audi alternately worked loïc Duval and rené Rast in the morning and afternoon respectively. On Thursday, the interim RS5 car specifications tested Jamie green.
“Not counting lunch, I spent in the car all day – said the Briton, centering upon new tires and work on the long series of circles. We have fulfilled all that could be done in one day. The car looks good – I think we have made good progress.”
Mercedes also tried to drive as many circles as possible. On Tuesday Gary Paffett has scored 159 laps, Paul di Resta Wednesday – 143, Edoardo Mortara Thursday – 136.
As part of BMW the first two days on the road spent Augusto Farfus, and on the last day behind the wheel of the M4 sat the reigning champion Marco Wittmann.
The following tests will be held on the Italian circuit of Vallelunga from 14 to 17 March.
